I hope you never feel like you're not enough.
I hope you never feel like the you that you have become is not strong or tough or smart. You are.
It's doesn't matter what you do or what you like. You are beautiful and strong just the way you are.
Don't ever be afraid to shine.
It is always enough. You are always enough.

Darling, there's no such thing

Monday, August 11, 2014

I've been in a bit of a writing funk the past few days. If you blog, I know you know what I mean. Most times ideas will flow through your brain like there's no tomorrow, but sometimes the ideas are few and far between.

There have been times when I don't know what to write and get tempted to just throw something together, but I'd much rather just not have anything for the day than something that my heart wasn't totally in. I'll be the first to admit that I put too much pressure on myself to be perfect and write perfect things.

Today was supposed to be an outfit post. I didn't like the photos or the way I looked in them. It wasn't "perfect" so I gave up on it.

{via}

The concept of perfect is abstract, but there really is no such thing. There is no perfect life. Perfect body. Perfect wardrobe. Perfect writing. Perfect anything. We can only be the best version of ourselves. Live your life with grace instead of striving to be perfect. Do you. There's no one better.

Don't you like you? 'Cause I like you.

I feel like in this society, everybody tries so hard. I'll be the first to admit that I do. But really, when you think about it, what's the point?

Who are you trying for? It's rarely for our own selves. It took me a long time to realize the belief that you have to fit into a certain mold or do certain things to be beautiful is a straight up lie. However, it's a lie that's easy to get caught up in and hard to get out of.

But here's the truth: Being who you really are is the most beautiful thing you can be. You don't have to try so hard, love. The people that truly matter are the ones that look at you like you're so special, because you are.

Why should you care what they think of you?
When you're all alone, by yourself, do you like you?

I hope you do.

He gives you grace

Monday, July 7, 2014

I think it takes a lot to admit we're in need of grace. But the truth is, we all need it, for it is by His grace that we are able to live, to be free of the demons that haunt us, whatever they may be.

"By the grace of God I am what I am."

I put one foot in front of the other,
and I looked in the mirror and decided to stay.

Oh how I thank the Lord for His beautiful and perfect grace. Because of it, we are able to pick ourselves back up and be okay again. Because of it, we are free from the sins that weigh us down. Because of it, we are renewed.

The calm + the storm

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

littlethingsaboutgod: You never let go of me Lord, in every high and every low.
{via}

Storms of life are kinda like literal thunderstorms. Everything can be beautiful one second, birds chirping and children playing and laughing in their backyards. And then, seemingly out of nowhere, the sky grows dark. There's the rumble from above and a few sprinkles. And then the downpour. Endless amounts of rain. Suddenly everyone runs inside seeking shelter to wait out the storm.

Life can be like that. It can go from being beautiful and wonderful and everything you've ever wanted to being dark. Scary. The thing about storms is no matter the strength, the impact can still be devastating.
Maybe it's losing the love you thought would last forever.
Maybe it's fear of the future.
Maybe it's loneliness and doubt of ever finding "the one."
Maybe it's terminal illness.
Maybe it's the shattering of dreams.
Maybe it's just that you suddenly feel lost and broken. Hopeless.

You see, life isn't always wonderful. It isn't always calm. But that's okay, because even when you are at your lowest, your loneliest, He is there. You never have to walk through the storm alone. You ever have to wait it out alone because you are worth waiting with. And He never lets go.

"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and staff, they comfort me."
-Psalm 23:1-4

P.S. He Loves You

Friday, May 16, 2014

Erin, one of my favorite bloggers + writers, released a little ebook/ devotional awhile back. It's taken me longer than I planned to finish it, but I got there.

I kinda wish there was still more left.

See, this devotional is more than that. It's raw. It's honest. It's real. Each day I read it, it broke me in a wonderful way. It reminded me of the amazing love of Jesus.

It's written in a series of little letters to you, the reader, and it is powerful y'all.

This ebook is good for the soul and leaves you feeling whole and reminded of your love + worth in Jesus.
You can purchase the book here if you'd like. Oh, is it worth it.

Salvation under your breath

Thursday, May 15, 2014

{via me}

What if I told you that your tears haven't been ignored? All those heartaches. All those dreams you thought got shattered long ago. All those sleepless nights of pleading and praying.

You haven't been ignored. He hears you, beautiful.

And there is salvation.

Feel This (feat. Enation) by Bethany Joy Galeotti on Grooveshark

"What if I told you your tears haven't been ignored
And everything that was taken can be restored."

Even if it feels as if He has forgotten you, He is there. Wiping your tears, making you whole again. Never forget that.

Dear beautiful,
I hope you know He wants to know you.
He wants to draw deeper to you, and for you to draw deeper to Him.
I hope you know how much He loves you, even in your brokenness.

Don't be scared. Pull Him closer.

A love that thaws

Wednesday, April 2, 2014

Last weekend, I saw Frozen.

I know, I know. I'm a tad late.

Oh well.

The sort of theme throughout the movie is the thought that love will thaw a frozen heart, and I love that. Because, love does thaw. It has the power to do so much, and I am reminded of the strength and power of Jesus' love.

Oh, how He loves us.

He loves us in our sin, our brokenness, our weakness, our pain. The most broken of hearts can be healed with Him.

{via me}

Trust in Him because He knows what is best. He knows the desires and sorrows of your heart. He knows your deepest fears. He knows everything, and He will heal your heart.

A letter to you for your Monday.

Monday, March 17, 2014

My dear,

As you wake up this morning and sleepily make your coffee, as you look in the mirror and put on your makeup, as you make your way to class or work, I hope you know how much you are worth. I hope you know how much you are loved. You are loved oh so much.

May you always remember this little fact. May you never feel like you are worth less than the world. You are worth the world and so much more.

"She is worth far more than rubies and pearls." -Proverbs 31:10

He loves you if you are whole.
He loves you if you are empty.
He loves you if you are broken.
He loves you if you are insecure.
He loves you if you are confident.

Don't you get it? He loves you no matter what. And oh yeah, I think you're pretty rad too.

xoxo, Kae.

A different kind of beautiful

Monday, February 17, 2014

I was at Target Saturday night, (aka the happiest place on earth) and I was drawn to the newest issue of Glamour magazine. If any other person had been on the cover, I would've just passed by it. But this wasn't just any person.

It was Taylor Swift.

If you don't already know this about me, you should know that I never pass by anything Taylor related without some sort of proper acknowledgement. Don't judge me.

So in this case, I thought the proper acknowledgement would be to buy the magazine. I picked it up and threw it in the cart. After a few minutes of admiring the cover, though, I realized something.

There's a reason why I never buy that magazine. Aside from being filled up with ads- many of which are way inappropriate and or have nothing to do with the product being advertised- it hardly ever promotes healthy self esteem. I wanted to support my girl, but why should I subject myself to needless topics in the process?
I decided not to.
Most women's magazines fall into the category of being more harmful than helpful, and the majority of articles are about losing weight or
looking hot or
making him fall for you.
Is this really what we're teaching young women to want?

In Troian Bellisario's issue of Seventeen, she bravely talks about her past struggles with an eating disorder. She makes it clear that they are a serious thing and that's the way they should be treated. Yet, on the cover of that very same issue, the magazine proudly tells you that you can "get an insane body. It's hard, but you'll look hot." As if that's what we should strive for. Magazines tend to contradict themselves that way. And honestly, I'm sick of it.

I'm sick of the lies that we are fed every single day. The lies that tell us we are not good enough. The lies that tell us we need to change the way we look and act. The lies that tell us we are worthless.

{via me}

There is too much focus on how we look on the outside, and not enough on how we look on the inside. But the inside is the part that really matters. Don't buy into the lies. Believe the truth instead.
You are good enough.
You are beautiful.
You are of great worth in God's sight.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to look pretty or be healthy, of course. But it needs to stop becoming the focus of our lives. That's when things can get complicated and messy. When you look in the mirror, look beyond the hair and the eyeliner and the lipstick. Find your spirit. Make sure it's gentle and quiet. I bet it is already. And that's all you need. All you need to be beautiful.

Unconditionally.

Friday, February 14, 2014

In case you haven't noticed, today is Valentine's Day, and people everywhere are celebrating with their significant other.

Or, if they're like me, hiding under their covers with chocolate and sappy movies.

Bitter. (Okay maybe that part is just me)

When you are in a season of singleness, Valentine's Day can be annoying. More than that, it can be a reminder of the fact that there is no one to share the day with. And it can hurt, am I right? Especially when you get to the age where it seems like everytime you look someone else is in a relationship or getting engaged. It can sometimes feel as if you're going to be forever waiting for something that will never even come.

But it will come. Promise.

In the mean time, have peace knowing that there is someone who loves you absolutely and unconditionally. The kind of love that is
"reach for the stars, over the fence World Series kinda stuff." (Points for anyone who knows what movie that line is from) But really, His love is that strong.

{via}

He is writing your story. It won't be a simple story. It won't always go the way you want it to. But it is all your own, shaped just for you.
Because you are loved unconditionally. And my dear, you are worth so much more than you think.
