High Five For Friday: Christmas edition

Friday, December 27, 2013

Well, it's Friday once again! Another Christmas has come and gone. I hope you had a wonderful day. Now it's time for New Year's! Tomorrow I leave for Florida to visit my Grandmom and uncle, so things might be a little quiet around these parts. But have no fear.
Now for some Christmas highlights.

1. It's a tradition that I watch The One With The Routine on Christmas Eve.

2. Cinnamon rolls every Christmas morning. And coffee.

3. I got this beautiful record player. My soul is happy.

4. I learned that this awesome little head piece thing is called a turban. Not just a headband. Who knew?

5. By now, it's just inevitable that I get something T. Swift related each year. And I love it.

xoxo, Kae.

Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal

Wednesday, December 25, 2013

If you don't know what movie the title references, we can't be friends. Just kidding. But really.

Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful day today. I hope you are wrapped in the peace of Jesus' love and surrounded by lovely people.

Merry Christmas.

xoxo, Kae.

High Five For Friday

Friday, December 20, 2013

IT'S FRIDAY!! And there's five days until Christmas.
Holla.

1. Now that I'm back home for Christmas, and knowing that I won't be back at school next semester, I'm overwhelmed with all the free time I have. There's so many options of what to do! I like that I'll have more time to write.

2. Speaking of free time, this is a perfect way to spend it.

3. Pretty tree.

4. There wasn't a new Coven this week, but I watched last week's because I missed it. And all I can say is.... QUEENIE!

5. And finally, since there's five more days, I give you this gem. Yes, I jam to this every 20th. Don't judge.

xoxo, Kae.

My favorite Christmas movies

Tuesday, December 10, 2013

Just two weeks (and a day) left til Christmas! What better way to count down the days than with some fun Christmas movies? Cozying up in a warm blanket with some hot chocolate... yeah that sounds pretty good right about now.

1. Let's start the list off with a no brainer, shall we? I don't think this one even needs an explanation.

2. "Buddy the elf, what's your favorite color?"

3. This one is a shoutout to all the fellow '90s kids out there. I was obsessed with this movie as a tiny one.

4. What's Christmas without It's A Wonderful Life?

5. And finally, I remember watching this with my mom like every year as a kid. It's kind of precious.

Happy watching!

Pinspiration: DIY Mug

Monday, December 2, 2013

Well folks, the holiday season is upon us. I wonder how many variations of that sentence I'll say between now and Christmas Day. Probably a lot. I love making homemade gifts for people because it's fun and (when they turn out right) I think people genuinely enjoy them. So this year I've been scouring Pinterest, like always, trying to find ideas that on my level of creating. (Let's just say I'm no Martha Stewart.) One project I've heard so much about in the past is the good old Sharpie mug. I had been intending to try it for awhile, but it just never happened.
So I finally thought, why not? I knew it was probably a good idea to try out a test mug for myself before buying a ton. (Because let's face it, everyone would be getting one.) The pin that I got my inspiration from was this one.

I decided to go ahead and do it all in black Sharpie so I wouldn't have to worry about the color fading. I figured a regular Sharpie would work just fine, but just to be safe I bought one made to write on glass. It was $6 at Hobby Lobby! And this is a Dollar Tree mug. Since I made this one for myself, I decided to put a Taylor Swift lyric on it. (I know, big surprise.)

After I got the mug decorated the way I wanted it, I put it on a cookie sheet and popped it into the oven on 350 degrees for thirty minutes.
Foil optional

I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome! Even though most of the pins I had read had been successful, I was still a bit skeptical since I had yet to do it myself. But it came out well, and I even (hand!) washed it to make sure the writing would stay.
I think this is such a fun gift because you can personalize it to fit whoever you're giving it to, and it's super quick. Who doesn't love that?

High Five For Friday

Friday, November 29, 2013

Whew. What a week. If any of you got up early for Black Friday, I'm so sorry. I was sleeping.

1. One Direction's new album came out this week. If you didn't know this about me already, I love those boys. I do. Their album is amazing and I've been jamming out to it all week long.

2. Thanksgiving was yesterday, of course, and somehow the day ended without me taking any pictures. None. I should really start getting better about that. Oh and the Cowboys won, so that's a plus.

3. Although I didn't go out at midnight last night, my parents and I did decide to venture the craziness for a bit today. We just went to Hobby Lobby so I could get some things for Christmas gift making. Intriguing, I know.

4. This just makes me smile everytime I read it... it's classic Dad humor.

5. And finally, I leave you with this.

Yes Michael, yes it is.

Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all! Are visions of turkey dancing in your head? I hope not, cuz that would be weird.
Anyway, can you believe it's already Thanksgiving? That also means Christmas is just around the corner now. Yay. I'm excited to spend the day with family and see what kind of shenanigans we get into. Also, go Cowboys.

I'm thankful for a lot of things, but these are a few off the top of my head.. (I accidentally typed me head. I guess I'm Irish today.)
 -God's grace and forgiveness
-Coffee
-My wonderful family and friends
-My favorite shows
-Books. Books are good.
-Taylor Swift (I had to sneak that one in somewhere)
-Christmas music (What I'm listening to as we speak)
-Netflix
-My sweet Daisy. This is the first holiday season without her.. miss that nugget.
-Aaaand the list could go on and on. So I'll just stop now, or I'll be typing til New Year's.

I hope you have a wonderful day today, and happy Thanksgiving

High Five For Friday

Friday, November 22, 2013

It's that time again, folks. Friday has arrived. Yay.

1. Can you believe next week is already Thanksgiving? I can't. But I am excited.

2. I am behind on my Christmas gift planing in the worst way. You would think I'd have tonsa ideas just flowing out right? Wrong. Luckily there is the beauty that is Pinterest. Now if only I could sew.....

3. The semester is thisclose to being done. It's the home stretch.

4. I had my first near-running-over-animal experience this week. It was a squirrel. He was okay, so it's a good thing. I, however, was traumatized.

5. Did y'all watch this week's Coven? It was intense, to say the least. I feel like all my shows are intense, all the time. Sigh.

Well, that's all I've got for ya. Have a lovely weekend, peaches.
xoxo, Kae.

Dear Santa

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

I say it's never too early to start your Christmas list. And I mean, there's only 42 days left (squeal) so it's okay that I've already had my list in my head for like two months. Or so I tell myself. These are just a few of my favorite things (get it?) that are on my mind for this year...........

1. A record player.
record player + vinyl collection.. I so want one of these portable record players!
via Pinterest
Thanks to my mom and her wonderful record collection, I was exposed early on in life. Now I'm ready to begin my own collection, and the quintessential thing to go with records would be well.. a player. And look how pretty.

2.  A puppy. Yes. I want my own little furry child to cuddle up with and spoil, and since my sweet Daisy isn't with us anymore, I can't do that at the moment. So, a puppy please!

3.  Gilmore Girls. One of my favorite shows, like ever, and yet I don't own any of the seasons! Such a travesty.

4. And last but not least.. Target.

Not a gift card or something specific from the store. I just want the store. The whole store. I know it sounds a little unreasonable, but it's possible. Okay, okay... maybe just in Kaeleen World. So I guess here in real world just a gift card will do.

Wrapped in red

Monday, November 11, 2013

It's November. Which, in Kaeleen World, means it's time for all things Christmas. I mean, don't me wrong, I love Thanksgiving. But I love Christmas more. So I think it was just fate that when I went to Target this weekend (ah, my happy place) that I saw Kelly Clarkson's new Christmas album there. I've been a Kelly fan for years and so I was excited when I heard she was putting out a Christmas record.
It did not disappoint.
I really like all the songs on the album, but I think my top three are a toss up between Blue Christmas, (Doesn't top Elvis, but definitely my favorite cover) Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and Silent Night, which she sings with Trisha Yearwood and Reba. This album is perfect for sitting by the fire, or if you're fireplace-less like me, curled up in a blanket with some tea. Yeah. Sounds good to me.

High Five For Friday

Friday, November 1, 2013

Happy Friday my peaches! I can't believe it's already November. I love this time of year, though, so yay. This is how my week went....

1. As you know, last Saturday I cut my hair. I am in love with it. It's so fun to style and curl and I just feel happier with short hair.

2. I'm one of those annoying people who are all about Christmas as soon as Halloween is over. It's just my favorite time of year and it makes me happy. I love Thanksgiving as well, but I'm mostly gearing up for Christmas. Don't hate.

3. Speaking of Halloween, I think I already know what I wanna be next year. It's never too early to start planning, right?

4. I'm falling more and more in love with this group called Fifth Harmony. They are super good and not the typical "pop" group. I'm seeing them in February with Demi Lovato and I can't wait.

5. In college, you learn to do many things, including writing a four-page paper in less than four hours. This happened this week, and I am proud.

Have a good weekend my friends. And as always, I'm linking up with Lauren Elizabeth. :)
xoxo, Kae
