Autumn is perhaps my favorite season to write about fashion-wise. Between the sweaters, knitwear, over the knee boots, and pretty much everything else we wear this season, it’s as much fun dressing for as writing about.

Fashion is always a season ahead, so sue me if that means I am too.
There’s something about digging into your wardrobe each season, seeing what kind of pieces you’re in need of and making room for them, and autumn is one of my favorite seasons to dress for.

I know August has just begun but let's face it- it's time to start getting in the autumnal mindset and thinking about transitional wardrobe pieces.
As much as I believe in shopping seasonally, I think it's also smart to look through your wardrobe and see what can be used to transition into the new season. Whilst there are many a piece you can use transitionally, I've rounded it down to three that can be styled in a number of ways.

HOW DID OCTOBER HAPPEN? Where did the rest of the year go? (& on a completely unrelated note, happy mean girls day)
Not for nothing I am v much already in the autumnal/ holiday spirit, soaking up all the pumpkin everything from coffee to candles, listening to all the autumnal playlists, & generally being that annoying person that can't stop talking about how much she loves fall. (& slipping the christmas spotify in on occasion) Soz.
For many, including myself, October signals the beginning of the end of the year and the holiday season, three major holidays seemingly back to back to back. It's not difficult for things to get overwhelming, what with decorations and preparing food & maybe entertaining & not really getting a chance to breathe. But this time of year is my very favorite, beginning with the first falling leaves & ending with the ball dropping, confetti falling everywhere.
The next three months are an opportunity to reflect, to slow down & smell the pumpkin, & just be. Does that sound like the cheesiest hallmark card? MAYBE YES I KNOW. But it's the truest of truths.
As for the blog this month, expect some truths when it comes to my favorite fall outfits, some more of the What Kae Wore series, (my new personal favorite) & some time management hacks. Podcosts you should all be listening to. Books you should be reading. & styles you should definitely be trying.
Cheers to October!

Dressing for autumn is quite possibly the most fun part of the season... sweaters, capes, scarves-- unless you live in the South, that is. It doesn't get cool enough to wear the best autumnal things until maybe November, & by then you're often too exhausted from the heat to even care.
What to do?
I like to find little ways to incorporate autumnal & current trends while still dressing for the temperatures. For example, velvet is still very in this season, but right now wear anything remotely autumnal themed that includes velvet & you will melt faster than the wicked witch.
BUT, with a top like this bad boy, you can look at least semi-fall, all while keeping cool.
Light cardigans are another essential, perfect for layering. Get a bit too warm? You can tie the cardigan around your waist for ultimate 90s appeal, & throw it back on whenever you need. Convenient, right?

Fall is the perfect time to do all the fun things. It's (ideally) the perfect temperature, and there are so many fun festivals & pumpkin patches & pumpkin coffee. (because anything you do must involve pumpkin coffee)
1// Go To a Fair
I don't know about other states, but in texas the state fair is always in september-october & it attracts A LOT of visitors. These kinds of fairs are especially fun because of all the different things available-- concerts, fried everything, beer... the list goes on!
2// Visit a Haunted House
Whether an entertainment house or a legit, (well, so they say) haunted place, go for it! Nothing to get you in the Halloween spirit like.... some spirits! (WHAT a horrid dad joke I'm so sorry)
3// Make Mulled Wine
Mulled wine is soooo easy to make, but I've never actually made any! It's on my bucket list this season, & it should be on yours too. It's a saucy twist on regular wine that's so cozy.
4// Refresh Your Wardrobe
One of my favorite things about each new season is dressing for it and giving my wardrobe a little refresh, and luckily one of very favorite things about fall is the fashion! Go through your closet and see what pieces you're in need of. (& a couple you just desperately want is okay, too) Get a bit carried away! You deserve it.
What's on your fall bucket list this year?

There's a reason why bloggers everywhere obsess over autumn. It's the start of a new season, a fresh start, & everything feels lighter. Crisper.
At least, that's what I think. Tell me if I'm wrong?
I feel like there are at least three key things that make autumn superior, and why I get SO EXCITED for its impending arrival:
1// The Coziness
To me, there is nothing better than a crisp autumn day, complete with a pumpkin candle, warm blanket, & a good book or tv show. We all need slowness in our life sometimes, and what better way?
2// The Fashion
As much as I love my off the shoulder dresses & sandals, we must admit that autumn dressing is just superior. From booties to knitwear & floppy hats, it's all so gorgeous & fun to put together. (if you fancy a look at some of my current wardrobe picks for the season, click here)
3// The Smells
Specifically, candle smells. Notes of pumpkin, apple, & all the yummy smells we associate with autumn flow through the air & everything feels a bit... warmer. Not to mention the smell of your mom's house on Thanksgiving.....
What are your favorite things about the season?

Because OMG IT'S FALL AND PUMPKIN SPICE IS BACK AND YOU NEED ALL THE AUTUMNAL THINGS, yes?
I for one am very glad to see the crushed velvet trend staying around this fall. There's something so chic about it, especially paired with a good boot.
Sweaters are of course an autumn staple in every language, and what's even better than normal sweaters? GRAPHIC sweaters. I'm especially into the Actually I Can situation. I need it in my closet like, yesterday.
Which picks are your fave?

It's happening. Slowly but surely, autumn is making its descent and I couldn't be happier.
Since the comfiness of autumn is one of my favorite feelings, that comes through in the season's playlist.
Indie and pretty acoustics make for a chill, cozy mood, with the occasional pop/ rock jam thrown in.
And lots of Ed Sheeran, because Ed Sheeran songs are basically fall in musical form.
