A Trick To Adding Color To A Neutral Look

Adding Color To A Neutral Look

A style goal of mine for 2020 was to level up my wardrobe a bit, and that means adding some pieces to it. I like to buy a little at a time when I need it- it helps keep the impulse shopping at bay- and I found a few new additions on a recent (virtual) ASOS run.

Four Things From ASOS Outlet New In

Friday, August 23, 2019

I’ve talked about how I’m really trying to lessen my clothing buying and save the major purchases for (mostly) seasonal, and lucky for you lot (& okay, me) it's almost autumn. It's been a minute since I've browsed the 'new in' on ASOS (the outlet has been the object of my affection as of late) but I always seem to find quite a few gems.

My New Favorite Purchase

Since being more conscious of sustainable shopping, my purchases have been more intentional, (for the most part) only searching for things I could really use.

A tradition that I've had with myself since I was young enough for my mom to still buy my clothes is getting a new Easter outfit every year.

Forever 21 Floral Shift Dress

Let's call it the midsummer shopping itch. It's most definitely something I just made up as I sit in this coffee shop, but whatever. Go with it, shall we? I've gone a little 'add to cart' happy and obviously I'm sharing it with you because lol I'm horrible and want you to also buy the things. BECAUSE THEY'RE CUTE, OKAY?

Under $50 Fashion Finds

HEY YA BABES! Coming at ya today with a few things you miight wanna add to your wardrobe like, asap. I'm LIVING for the end of summer vibes we've got going (mostly because I thrive in autumn, anyone else??)

& luckily here in the south we can squeeze cropped, off the shoulder, & tanks in just a little bit longer! The stripes on this tie waist top are SO CHIC, and I adore the red color of this layered dress.

I'm already drooling over cosy sweaters and this ribbed knit from f21 looks so gorgeous I've ordered it in both the burgundy & blush! Cardigans are an autumn staple, & a good cream color goes with everything.

Happy shopping!

THE GINGHAM ROMPER

Monday, July 10, 2017

Oh HEY THERE, babes!

I recently added this boohoo romper to my wardrobe & brought it out for my cousin's baby shower. It was A HIT with me & now I want to wear it pretty much every day.

Every detail is perfection, from the flutter shoulder to the waist to the print. What's not to love about gingham? First made chic on picnic outings, it's now chic on street wear & I've been a fan of it for too long to not actually OWN a print, ya know?

I chose this specific romper because of the petite cut and straight silhouette, the defined waist breaking things up a bit.

For me, adding a long necklace or choker + necklace combo is the best accessory to sauce the look up a  tiny notch.

I've listed some more romper picks down below!

Are you a gingham fan? Let's chat about it!

A HACK FOR SHORT DRESSES.

Monday, June 5, 2017

This dress has had a bit of an identity crisis, first with me being confused on if the print was actually pineapples or not. (then, after looking at the online description I realized that oh yes, it does indeed SAY pineapple in the title.. haha.. ha)

Then me realizing that the petite hem line was a bit too petite... what's a girl to do?

Throw a fancy skirt over, of course! I've talked about my love of this blush beauty before, making me feel all kinds of carrie bradshaw. It dresses up the dress (ha) just right!

What's your favorite hack for super short dresses?

CULOTTES & FLORAL

Friday, May 26, 2017

I've touched on my semi-newfound love of jumpsuits before, & I'm always on the hunt for strong, petite fitting ones.

I love this culotte piece in particular, with its fitted waist & straight cut neckline. The floral pattern makes for a strong statement on its own, but I like adding a touch more of personality with something like a belt and a fun necklace. Not too much, but the belt draws even more attention to the waist, & who doesn't want that?

I originally bought this for easter, but it's quickly become a piece in high rotation. OF COURSE it's sold out at the moment, but I've linked some similar ones down below for ya!

MOST WORN ITEMS IN MY WARDROBE

Monday, February 27, 2017

*or, more appropriately titled, a select collection of most worn items, because there was a lot to choose from.

Also while putting this post together I realized that although I have a good color variety in my wardrobe, I kinda wear the same basic denim colors over & over. I should probably fix that......

I got this idea from tanya burr's video & I thought it'd be kinda fun to go through my closet:

(I'll try to link the items as closely as possible but some might be similar)

1// Forever 21 Blush SweaterI featured a whole post on this sweater, I love it so much. It's soft and comfy & can so easily be thrown on over a bralette on a cold day.

2// ASOS Petite Floral Dress: (sold out; similar) I love this dress because of its versatility, + I love a good high neck detail. I like to layer it with leggings or tights when it's colder, & then I get to show off some leg when it's warm.

(aka the denim section)

3// Mossimo Denim JacketA good denim jacket is such a staple & I wear this with literally everything. (well ok, maybe not in the middle of summer) Depending on what you wear it with, it can look more dressed up, which I love.

4// Denim Skirts: (similar) I've got a couple but the one pictured is from f21 & I LOOOOVVEE. I actually think half my outfits include a denim skirt. What can I say? They can be paired with graphic tees, crop tops, the list goes on.

5// ASOS Petite Overalls (sold out; similar) Overalls are another staple I can't get enough of. They're so useful to have on hand to throw on, & I like to throw them on with anything! Pairing them with long sleeve or sweaters in the winter and then some stripes or off the shoulder are a no-fail.

6// Mossimo Striped Tee: (similar) speaking of stripes.... I have many a striped shirt but seem to reach for this one quite a bit... it's so comfy! I'm not sure where my love of stripes came from but it's not going anywhere & a basic tee like this fulfills all my needs. I love tying a knot in it 90s style & wearing it with shorts!

7// Forever 21 Black Swing Dress: A casual spin on the LBD, this dress has actually lasted me quite a few washes! It's very versatile & can be dressed up or down. Paired with a skinny belt to give some shape is an easy way to look effortless.

8// Leggings: (similar) Although only one pair is pictured, boy do I have more. I wear leggings A LOT to work (of course I dress them up) & I am forever an advocate of 'leggings are pants.' They're not tights.... ANYWAY leggings are an essential part of every wardrobe, so says me.

OKAY, (most) of my most worn items, done! (should there be a part two? LMK) Are any of these same pieces on your most worn list?

Hopping on the bodysuit trend in 3, 2......

I don't know the how or why on bodysuits but I know that I'm down for them, & for making them look as 90s as possible. How to do so?

Summer Blues

Wednesday, July 13, 2016

{iced coffee recipe found here}

I've got a thing for asos, and I've got it bad. I rarely ever shop online because sizing is so weird & the thought of something not fitting & having to return it just makes me anxious, ya know? BUT asos' petite shop is always stocked full of lovely things so one day I took the plunge and haven't looked back. Recently I came across this high neck floral dress that I NEEDED to add to my floral collection.

The textured fabric and high neck gives a chic feel that does't need much else: sunglasses & a pair of wedges or sandals is my favorite way of styling this look.

Are you an asos fan? Lemme know some picks for my next spree.....
