The denim skirt has been a long standing piece in my wardrobe. I currently have three I rotate between, & they are my ride or dies. They are there for me on the days when I just don’t know what else to wear, the days I need a pick me up, & the days I want to live out my nostalgic 90s dreams.

WHY THE DENIM SKIRT MIGHT BE MY FAVORITE PIECE
Friday, January 5, 2018
There's a reason there's a band named after it: plain white tee's are a wardrobe staple, one that my wardrobe was sorely missing. That is, until, I found this chiffon number that is SO MUCH more than a white tee.
It's actually not even a tee- its chiffon texture gives it a dressier feel, & I love pairing it with a denim skirt (because denim) & a scarf. But it would also be chic with a pair of dark wash jeans & heels, thrown over a leather mini... there are so many different options!
Quite the addition.

Chambray is kind of a fun material, am I right, ladies? (You know it's gonna be a good post when I start it off with am I right ladies)
I love that it's a more lightweight alternative to denim, perfect for warmer days. The high neck halter cut on this Mossimo top gives lots of shoulder attention! Pairing it with an a-line striped skirt like this one adds some chicness. (& some twirl!)
I wore a variation of this look to a wedding on Saturday and it felt light & oh-so-pretty!
For a more casual look, I like these high waisted shorts.
Tell me how you'd wear this look!

It's safe to say denim is a pretty solid part of my wardrobe and finding new ways to wear it is a challenge I'm always up for.
I recently added some knee high socks to the mix, changing things up a bit. I love a good skirt + knee high combo, adding just enough coverage so you don't freeze. (but if it's not Texas extra cold, you can always slip the socks on over some tights)
Throwing on a cardigan and some combat boots gives it a casual feel.
To say I'm digging the whole knee-high trend is a bit of an understatement.....

My love affair with denim has been going on for quite some time, so it was about time that I added the perfect little dress to my wardrobe.
It's light and soft and airy, the only downside being it wrinkles easily. (Even though it calls itself wrinkle resistant) But, other than the wrinkle situation, this baby is a gem.
Two of my favorite ways to wear it are belted or with a flannel tied at the waist. A floppy hat is the perfect accessory and cowboy boots are my go-to for this look, but any kinda boot will do.
This is such a cute casual outfit but it can easily be dressed up too!

One of my favorite parts of the changing seasons is figuring out how to transition certain pieces and style them accordingly.
To me, a crop top is on the verge of essential. It easily transforms a look and can be so versatile, and despite the peeps of bare skin, it doesn't have to be confined to warm weather wearing.
A great way to take a cropped look into fall is with a little bit of denim. Crop tops + jeans are an effortlessly chic duo on their own, but add in a denim jacket and you've got yourself a golden trio.
Plus, you'll totally feel like an updated version of Topanga Lawrence/ Kelly Kapowski/ every other quintessential '90s leading lady.
Dope. (don't worry, I'll never say that again.)

I haven't worn a pair of overalls since I was about five years old. It's a 90's trend that I was horrified was coming back. Overalls? Shortalls? Eek.
I could just hear that Clueless line, "She could be a farmer in those clothes." I couldn't see how it could be possible to make overalls chic.
But if anyone can get me to do something out of my comfort zone, it's Taylor Swift. The moment I saw her wearing this little number, I was in love. And inspired.
I think the look of overall shorts, or "shortalls," are an updated take and they're perfect for summer, obviously.
Most crop tops don't come up as high on my 4'10" frame, but I made it work for me. Since overalls are denim, you can get creative with the tops. They can be print or plain, whatever you're feelin.
Paired with a pretty bag and some wedges or sandals for a more casual feel, the look is complete.
And then all at once, I become an overalls girl.
What is your opinion on overalls? Rocked the look lately? Tell me how you do it!

I've always been a bit leery of denim on denim, mostly because I didn't quite know how to wear it without looking like Britney and Justin circa 2001.
But, I think I've found the key.
Just don't be too matchy matchy. I like wearing different washes with each other since it gives it more of a relaxed look.
I've been obsessed with this chambray shirt I found at this shop called L'Patricia. (they don't have a website. Boo.) It's light and relaxed and perfect for days when you want a little extra blue.
Have you ever ventured into the double denim/ chambray look? Spill.
