Four things to Do When You're Sick

Friday, November 6, 2015

As I write this I'm sitting on the couch breathing through my mouth and trying to stay alive. So glam.

Although curling up with netflix does make things a little less painful, being sick is never ideal. You've got things to do, places to go, but you're stuck. Luckily, there's a few things you can do (besides wallow) to pass the time a bit:

Yoga
I know, I know. The last thing you want to do when you don't feel well is lots of twisty turns and poses. But there are lots of gentle routines you can do that will make you feel so much better. This is my favorite.

Catch up on your reading.
It usually takes me either five days or five months to finish a book, so any downtime is useful.

Do some online shopping.
Just don't fall down the rabbit hole. It's easier to do than it looks.

Drink all the tea.
Mix in some honey and you'll be good to go in no time. Or one can only hope.

How do you make yourself feel better?

{Karen Smith + a dog}

Oh hi hello.

I realized it's been 20 years since I've done one of these posts (or maybe it's been more like two months. Technicalities.) which was a plus for me because to be honest, I had no idea what today's post should be.

{denim on denim}

There's a certain stigma in parts of the blogging world when it comes to getting real on your blog. In the age of social media and goals, there always seems to be the question of how much is too much? How real is too real?

When my grandmother passed away (semi) unexpectedly last week, I debated not posting anything about it on social media or on here for many reasons. It was too real, too raw, too unpretty.

But, as the harrowing scenes of every teen drama (not to mention real life, am I right) taught us, the world isn't always pretty. Life happens, and you can choose to ignore it and hide behind perfectly posed photos, or you can face it. I choose to always face it.

On a lighter note, how was your Halloween? Mine consisted of this episode of Boy Meets World and yummy candy. And now it's Christmas.

Also: Tell me your fave no ish keep it real bloggers. Mine are Lauryn & Helene.....

Uniform

(AKA how many different ways can I look down dramatically)

This is pretty much my October- January uniform: button down, tights, a skirt, and boots.

Sometimes I'll even get crazy and change the skirt up with leggings. #wild

Anyway, I really dig the look of a printed skirt with a plain colored top. It balances things out a bit and adds a festive feel.
