Confession: I love Girl Meets World.

Actually, I'm not sure it even counts as a confession since I will profess my love for it to anyone who listens. (I'll do a whole post on it sometime don't worry) But one thing I might love more than the show itself is Rowan Blanchard.

She may be known as Cory & Topanga's daughter, but she is a force all her own who has recently been making headlines for her killer style and more importantly, her educated views on intersectional feminism. All too often the media and people in our own lives portray a picture of feminism that isn't quite feminism at all. It's not what we're supposed to stand for. And Rowan isn't having any of it, as none of us should.

At just thirteen, she is more educated and eloquent than half of the people my age and for that she has all my respect. She's the type of girl you want on your team because much like her character Riley, she sees the good in everything and she's oh so genuine.

I've got a few years on Rowan, but she's the one teaching me every day how to be a little bit better than the day before.

We all need a bit of that in the world.

The One Where I Went To a Blogging Webinar

*There would normally be some artsy photo at least halfway relevant to the post, but half my things are stuck in storage and if blogging has taught me anything, it's that sometimes you gotta improv. And lol @ life. 

On Wednesday night, I popped on over to Helene's webinar. I'd never actually been to one of these things before, but at least I didn't have to stress over what to wear. Thanks internet. 

Anyway, as I took notes (because I'm super studious) and listened to Helene talk about monetizing your blog and knowing its worth, a certain phrase kept popping up: 

You are unique.

And that phrase got me thinking about the immense respect I have for fellow bloggers and creatives. Because it's true, we are unique and so are each of our spaces on the Internet. 

I'm glad I have a space I'm proud of and that I can share a community with like-minded people. I'll be honest, in the blogosphere it can be easy to get overwhelmed by all the "successful" blogs and pressure yourself to be a certain way or post certain things.

But you are unique. Your blog is unique. And I think it's pretty cool that so many different people from all walks of life have this one thing in common. 

PS. Another thing I learned from Helene? As long as you're genuine about it, you should never feel guilty for making money from your blog! You've worked hard enough for it.

If you tell me your style has never once been influenced by a fictional character or a tv show, I think you're a liiiar. 

This summer I became obsessed with The Astronaut Wives Club and the style on the show. I've always loved '60s style, and I think the show did a lovely job of showcasing it. Bowed Peter Pan collars and pencil dresses were a focus, so obviously I had to put my own spin on things.

The cut of the dress is perfect for going over a collared shirt and a skinny belt gives it even more of an hourglass shape. This is definitely more of a dressy look, but if you look hard enough, there are plenty of occasions in which it's wearable. Especially with holiday parties this season...... 

Speaking of Astronaut Wives, why did ABC think they could get away with just making it a miniseries? I didn't realize that in the beginning and I got super invested. You gotta give me three good seasons of a show at least. Give me more in-depth stories of the families in between all the time jumps. Give me something.  

Oh well.
