The Bullet Journal | 2019 Update

I started bullet journaling in the middle of 2017, & I haven't gone back since. Whenever anyone asks about planner recommendations or getting organized, I immediately say the bullet journal. You can be as intricate or minimalistic as you want, & it's by far the most personalized system I've found.

PLAN WITH ME: FEBRUARY BULLET JOURNAL

February Plan With Me
February Plan With Me

I, for one, LOVE plan with me's. Blog posts, videos, give me all of it. It makes me feel like I can get that organized, if only for a moment. That's the thing I love about bullet journaling; it helps my organization SO MUCH and I've found that having everything written out instead of just floating around in my brain helps out my anxiety some.

SO, february planning.

I have spreads that are a given for each month, like my weekly spread, content calendar, yoga tracker, etc. This month I also added a couple new spreads; one for stevie, to track her walks & grooming, & one for meal planning.

I'm hoping it will motivate me to actually make more things and plan meals out, rather than ordering out or just rummaging in the fridge hoping something appears.

I got the sticky notes idea from pinterest; instead of having to do a new meal spread every week, you can just use pencil or put new sticky notes on. Who doesn't like to keep it simple?

For the most part my journal stays very minimalist, as I don't have the time or creative genes to make it super pretty & detailed. But it works for me and I like finding new little things to add!

A PEEK INSIDE MY 2018 BULLET JOURNAL

Inside My 2018 Bullet Journal

As you might remember from this post, last year I started bullet journaling. I've always been the type of person that needs to plan & write things out, otherwise things get so disorganized in my brain & I'm running around like a madwoman trying to remember what day it is & I've probably forgotten to eat breakfast. (okay, I'm not THAT bad. but close)

Bullet journaling has really helped me stay on track of things, and the thing I love most about it is it's totally customizable, tailored to your needs. It's YOURS. I like a minimalistic theme with a bit of washi tape & colored pen splash every now & then.

Starting out with an index in the beginning of the journal is very helpful; instead of flipping through until you find what you need, it's all layed out for you.

This year I decided to have a page for my yearly goals, as writing them down is an important part of the new year for me. Something I'm always wanting to do is read more, so for this year I added a book list, where I can track books that are on my to-read list & when I read them, as well as books not on the list.

& finally, as a main point of the journal, monthly & weekly spreads add personalization to plans, appointments, etc.

I haven't got much in my weekly spreads yet, as it is only week one of fifty-two, but my instagram is sure to be full of them soon. I'm excited about this years' journal, now that I've done it long enough to get most of the kinks out & find out what suits me.

The possibilities are infinite.

THE BULLET JOURNAL

Monday, July 17, 2017

I started bullet journaling back in May, and I've kind of found a groove of what I like & use it for. My brain is always SO FULL & if I don't write things down, the chances I'll actually remember them are slim to none, which is why when I first heard about the bullet journaling way I was instantly intrigued.

Let's start with the basics: What is bullet journaling?

Bullet journaling is a system created by Ryder Carroll as a simple notetaking/ journaling system designed for the individual. You essentially create the journal, tailoring it to your specific needs.

Kinda cool, right?

All you'll need is a basic moleskine journal with either bulleted or plain paper (I got mine from target) to get going.

I put my own little twist on the method, using a lot of the original system but making it my own.

Perhaps the most important part of any BJ (what a sentence) is the daily or weekly calendar. I personally prefer weeklys, because I can see my week layed out & I know exactly what's coming, and can see if anything needs to be changed or added. This is also where you'll put any reminders or to-dos. I also have a space for daily gratitude, as I like to keep track of little things.

each month I have a page for blog posts, yoga tracking, & a monthly budget. Depending on what's going on I might add more, but those are the regulars.

That's where it gets fun; you might not need a page for blog posts. Instead, you might need a page for meal planning, (I need to get on that train) mood tracking... whatever you fancy!

That's the thing I love about this system; you curate it for you. & after two full months of using it, I can honestly say it keeps me organized & up to date.

Filling it in starts to become second nature & it will become a daily part of your life.

What do you think about bullet journaling?
