For someone who generally doesn’t do well with change, when it comes to my hair I tend to change it up quite a bit. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I can’t make decisions to save my life. (Quite contradictory to the whole change thing. Just call me a walking oxymoron)
Which brings us here: another hair predicament, another trick tried. It was a slow realization, that I wanted to be a blonde again. I’m not even sure how it happened, maybe it was all the Kardashian watching I’d been doing (Khloe’s hair is goals, can we agree?) but suddenly I was researching all the ways I could get any extra dye out of my hair so I could go back to the drawing board. The results were basically just wait it out or buy a color stripper, & I didn’t want to spend the money without being sure it actually worked or that it wouldn’t damage my hair more.
Then, I stumbled upon something that seemed a little iffy, but I was willing to try anything. Apparently there is a chemical in dish soap (I don’t even want to know what it is) that will strip out hair color, & somehow ‘mixing shampoo with dish soap’ (I use dawn) became my latest testing situation. I know, it sounds crazy BUT IT WORKS.
It takes about three washes to notice a difference, and every wash after gets better and better. (I do recommend using a hair mask after every couple of washes, as it can dry out your hair) My hair is still in the process of finding its natural color, but it’s so much more on its way than it was two months ago. The reddish-brown continues to fade into your classic dirty strawberry blonde (don’t know if that’s a thing but it is now) and honestly, I couldn’t be happier about it.
For the moment, anyway.
Spill the craziest thing you’ve done for your hair!
xo,
kae
